These ultra-realistic sculpting materials available in ZBrush perfectly replicate the consistency of Monster Makers' iconic clay.
These materials, created in collaboration with CGS ORIS using METIS scanning technology, bridge the gap between traditional and digital artistry. Using these digital materials with an unprecedented level of detail and control, artists are empowered to bring their creatures to life with the same quality and precision they’ve come to expect from both Monster Makers and ZBrush.

METIS Scanning Technology
CGS ORIS specializes in color workflow software and sophisticated imaging technology for printers, brands, creative agencies, and manufacturers. Maxon collaborated with CGS ORIS to accurately scan hand-sculpted trays of monster clay into Redshift Physically Based Rendering (PBR) materials. Their unparalleled METIS scanning system technology leverages an array of 8 lights to create a dome effect that accurately captures material textures that can be used to create digital twins of various surfaces from stone and leather to roofing, textiles, foliage, and more.
ZBrush for iPad
ZBrush for iPad makes it possible to take the power of Academy Award®-winning ZBrush on the go to sculpt, paint, and bring creations to life anywhere in real time with Apple’s touch-based capabilities! Designed with a highly customizable user interface, the app optimizes sculpting workflows, offering features such as dynamic tessellation, detailed brush settings, and robust symmetry tools.

Monster Clay®'s non-drying formula allows artists to refine and alter their sculptures over extended periods without the clay hardening, while its smooth texture ensures seamless blending and layering of details. Available in various colors, it is favored for its durability, minimal shrinkage, and ability to hold fine details, making it a go-to choice for creating everything from fantasy creatures to intricate prototypes in both traditional and modern sculpting workflows.
Brown Clay
Monster Clay® Brown is the original easy-to-use sculpting medium formulated back in 1991 by Monster Makers. Chosen for its classic look, which resembles natural clay, many artists find it easier to see details and contrasts in brown clay.
Green Clay
Monster Clay® Green is the overall firmest version of Monster Clay currently available. It’s neutral-toned army green color harkens back to the earlier days of oil based clays (minus the sulfur!) This color is less common but might be chosen for specific projects or personal preference.
Gray Clay
Monster Clay® Gray is the softest overall grade of Monster Clay. Preferred by some artists for its neutral tone, Monster Clay Gray’s warm color makes it easy to distinguish between light and shadow, aiding in visualizing the final piece.
