Professional-grade 3D animation

What is 3D animation software?

3D animation software is where ideas take shape in space, letting you build, light, and move characters and fully three-dimensional worlds for film, television, games, and digital experiences. With tools like Cinema 4D, artists can bring everything to life through motion with hand-crafted keyframes or smart procedural systems. Stunning visuals come to life using Redshift for fast, high-quality rendering, and sequences are polished with Autograph for seamless compositing. From cinematic motion graphics to character stories, it’s all about giving you complete control.

Benefits

Changing materials, lighting, or timing used to mean long waits for renders. Redshift’s GPU-accelerated rendering solves this by delivering instant previews and fast final-quality frames while you’re still imagining the next shot.

Cinema 4D’s Mograph is a powerful, artist-friendly procedural animation and motion graphics toolkit that lets you clone, animate, and apply Effectors to objects with minimal manual keyframing.

Repeatedly jumping between applications can be frustrating and slow down the creative process. The Maxon One collection features powerful, curated tools that work together, helping you go from concept to delivery. Whether you start with sculpting or procedural 3D, ZBrush and Cinema 4D provide industry-leading toolkits for crafting stunning 3D visuals. Redshift provides photorealistic, GPU-accelerated renders and Autograph acts a hub for compositing. Red Giant’s comprehensive creative toolkit enhances your footage and sets it apart.

How our tools are used

From our users

How it works

The Maxon One toolset streamlines 3D animation pipelines. Bring in character designs or objects from your favorite sculpting tool like ZBrush or create 3D models in Cinema 4D, build procedural rigs, animate with ease, and render with GPU-accelerated speed in Redshift. Bring your AOVs together inside of Autograph for your final composite and add effects with Red Giant.

Maxon Z Brush Mark Primary 200px
Sculpt or model characters and 3D objects

Creating a character sculpt for animation in ZBrush focuses on clean forms and deformation-ready anatomy, especially around joints and facial areas. Polygonal or procedural modeling in Cinema 4D allows you to quickly create objects ranging from cars to buildings or general props that can be seamlessly transferred to Cinema 4D for rigging and animation.

Maxon Cinema 4 D Mark Primary 200px
Animate in Cinema 4D

Using Cinema 4D, artists animate characters or objects through keyframing and rigging to control motion and performance. It also supports procedural animation, where movement is driven by rules and systems like physics or constraints, making animation more flexible and efficient.

Maxon Redshift Mark Primary 200px
Preview renders in real-time

Using Redshift, artists use Redshift Live to preview lighting, shading, and materials in near real time as changes are made. This lets animators quickly refine motion, camera work, and look development without waiting for full renders, making the workflow faster and more interactive.

Maxon Autograph Mark Primary 200px
Bring it all together in compositing

Using Autograph, artists bring rendered layers together in compositing by combining passes, effects, and animation elements into a final polished shot. It allows real-time, control over color, timing, and visual effects so artists can refine the look of a render without re-rendering.

Do I need a GPU to use Cinema 4D or Redshift?

Cinema 4D and Redshift run on any modern CPU. Redshift GPU rendering requires an NVIDIA GPU with CUDA 5.0 capability or higher (Windows/Linux) and 8 GB of VRAM, an AMD RDNA 2 or later GPU and 8 GB of VRAM (Windows), or Apple M1+ (macOS). If you don't have a compatible GPU, Redshift’s CPU renderer works fine but renders will take longer.

What's included in Maxon One vs. a Cinema 4D subscription?

A Cinema 4D subscription includes Cinema 4D (professional 3D animation, modeling, simulation, and rendering software), and Redshift (cutting-edge GPU rendering software). Maxon One includes Cinema 4D, Redshift, ZBrush (the industry standard for digital sculpting), Red Giant (compositing, VFX, and motion graphics plugins for hosts like After Effects, Premiere, Resolve, and more), and Universe (a growing library of effects and transitions). Our free 2D/3D motion graphics and VFX/compositing tool Autograph is also included in Maxon One.

How long does a 3D animation render take with Redshift?

Redshift GPU renders are typically 5-15x faster than CPU rendering, depending on scene complexity and GPU hardware. A typical broadcast-quality frame on a current mid-range desktop GPU renders in seconds to a few minutes. Redshift Live real-time viewport preview rendering means you see results instantly as you iterate.

Large studios and freelancers alike trust Maxon One tools including Cinema 4D, ZBrush, Redshift, Cineware, Red Giant, and Autograph to deliver high-quality animation on tight timelines.
