Independence Day 2020 but with Dinosaurs

NEW TUTORIAL | Independence Day but with Dinosaurs A tutorial celebrating what makes July 4th special … 1996 movie Independence Day, made better by the one thing the film was always missing: dinosaurs.

This past weekend (here in the USA), we celebrated our independence. And we thought, how better to follow it up than with a tutorial celebrating what makes July 4th special … the 1996 movie Independence Day, made better by the one thing the film was always missing: dinosaurs.

To celebrate with us, and take on an alien invasion, here’s what you’ll need:

  • A computer to upload the virus (Mac and Windows can both take those aliens down)
  • Jeff Goldblum (or Seth Worley, our designated Goldblum)
  • Adobe After Effects
  • Maxon Cinema 4D
  • Some tools from Red Giant
  • Potato Salad (not provided)

Seth will share his process for working with lens distorted footage, camera tracking, 3D animation, color correction, compositing and much more.

So let this be the day the world declares in one voice: We will not go quietly into the night. We will join together (keeping six feet between us, always wearing masks) and animate pteranodons, laser beams, volcanoes, and mass destruction, and it will probably make some sort of sense. Today we celebrate our Independence Day! Welcome to Earth.

Want to follow along? You can download a free trial of both Red Giant Complete and Cinema 4D and have access to fully functioning versions of all of our tools!
