Rookie Awards 2022 Winners Announced Hopeful young artists showcase their work with hopes of recognition and launching a career; winners realize their dream utilizing Maxon products.

Over 4,400 aspiring young creatives from 91 countries submitted their work for this year’s Rookie Awards. The winners represent the most talented emerging artists in visual effects, animation, games, virtual reality, motion graphics and 3d visualization. Winners were selected based on criteria including creative ability, technical ability, presentation, diversity of skills, complexity, raw talent and employment potential. The jury included some of the most influential and respected experts in the creative and technical fields.

The Rookies was created by industry veterans Andrew McDonald and Alwyn Hunt to help launch young creatives into design careers, and for studios and recruiters to find outstanding emerging talent. Maxon has a rich history of nurturing young talent and has been a proud sponsor of the Rookie Awards since its inception. The winners in the 3D Animation category are:

Amanda is a motion designer from Cayey, Puerto Rico and studies at Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. Impressively, her entry for the 2022 Rookie Awards highlights the personal work she made during her time as a student. With a focus on 3D, typography and art direction she is a keen Cinema 4D user.

SiJie has been passionate about art since childhood. He is studying communication design and realized during his journey as an artist that motion design has always interested him. He demonstrates this impressively with his showreel for the Rookie Awards 2022. For his work, SiJe uses Cinema 4D, which has opened endless possibilities in his project. He described it as “very powerful und intuitive” and he looks forward to getting more in-depth into the software.

Alexandria Siah writes on her The Rookies Profile: "My biggest dream is to be able to make a difference in the animation industry and inspire others to strive for their dreams too.” She follows this credo in her trailer for her film "The End”. After a princess watches her gallant knight meet an unfortunate death, she decides to take matters into her own hands. With ZBrush by Maxon she realized the character models as well as some props and environment pieces such as the dragon head.

Kate impressively shows how she knows her craft in the cute trailer "My Cat Lucy" for the Rookie Awards 2022. It is a story about a boy who is convinced that his black cat is possessed by a demon. Among other things, she used ZBrush by to sculpt her characters.

The first-place winners in the 3D Animation and 3D Motion Graphics categories receive a one-year subscription for Maxon One. The runners-up will enjoy six months of Maxon One.
