Red Giant Geo is an Adobe After Effects plug-in for texturing, lighting, and cloning 3D models. With the aim of offering a simple but powerful 3D solution, approachable yet capable enough for any skill level, Geo slides neatly into your existing After Effects workflow. Select models from the Maxon Capsule library or import your own and fully customize their materials using any After Effects layer or comp as a texture. Create quick, easy arrays in a variety of shapes with the cloner controls. Fully sell your scene by casting shadows directly from your geometry onto any selected layer in your composition. The latest update to Geo adds support for rigged animation and built-in depth of field. Expanded cloner features like multiple materials and objects, plus several new formation controls take the heavy lifting out of your array-based shots.

3D Models
Grab the model you want and go. Seven supported formats include C4D, OBJ, FBX, GLB, glTF, DAE, and 3DS. This means less hunting for just the right file and more getting right to the good stuff.

Add Materials and Textures
Assign up to five materials, each with its own set of physically-based properties, including base color, roughness, metalness, subsurface, transmission, opacity, emmission, and bump (normal and height). Modify or create any texture with the full power of After Effects at your disposal. Get a head start with one of the included surface presets or build entirely from scratch. It's never been easier to iterate and vary your 3D scenes.

Create realistic glass, water, and other translucent materials with Geo’s refractions based on the real-world Index of refraction table. Not only do they look beautiful, they render crazy fast!

Create Clone Arrays
Generate quick and easy arrays in box, sphere, or cylindrical shapes with the integrated cloner. This approachable set of controls will feel familiar to artists accustomed to Cinema 4D’s MoGraph tools. Duplicate, scale, and rotate your geometry on all three axes to create asteroid belts, armies of marching ants, spinning smart phones, or mesmerizing abstract art.

Environment
Immerse your geometry into the scene with robust environmental controls. Adjust the color, intensity and angles of the built-in sun light. Assign refraction and environment maps for interactive refractions, image-based lighting and reflections. Get just the right color and strength of your shadows. Define the visibility and fog falloff for a cinematic fade into the distance.

Shadow Catcher
While also a part of the environment group, this slick little feature is worth its own mention. Control the position and rotations of shadows cast from your geometry simply using the AE layer transforms of any selected comp layer. Works amazingly for camera-tracked VFX shots, motion graphics product shots and more. Separate your shadow pass from your geometry for complete compositing control.
