Expired numbers or cannot delete serials
If you have trouble with expired numbers or cannot delete the serial numbers within the KLS, you will need to switch off the KLS, then reboot the system.
If you still have trouble with this, please reboot the client machine as well. Remember you must have the KLS open at all times to keep it running, it's not something you can run in the background.
The KLS is not showing on the client's machine
First, check your license.ini file or to grab hold of a working license.ini file and copy it over. Otherwise, manually create a new license.ini file.
or
If the license.ini looks correct, here are some other options to check -
Can this machine/client see the network or internet? If not, this is where your problem lies. If the internet can be seen, then it could mean that the KLS needs to be restarted. To do this, close the KLS window, reboot the machine and then open the KLS again. Note that the KLS window always needs to be open to administer licences. So keep it running. Once the KLS has been restarted, try rebooting the client machine as well and then run CINEMA 4D. If this does not fix the problem, try sending info back and forth from the server machine to the client machine. Check to see if the info is sent back.
or
Another possibility is that the groups have been set up for only specific users or IP addresses. Is that user or IP address configured to be allowed by the KLS? The person who set up your KLS would have to answer that because the KLS offers a tremendous number of possible configurations.
or
Check to see if the group access times have been lengthened. KLS lets you greatly increase the minimum lease time from the default setting of 10 minutes. If the lease times have been lengthened, this can result in licenses being leased for longer periods and can be problematic if more machines try to access than are licenses available. For example, if the minimum lease time is set to 2 days and 30 machines access those licences, you'd quickly run out of licences.
What should my license.ini file look like?
Your *.ini file can be created in a text editor and then needs to be saved as a "license.ini" file. Inside the file, you should enter:
[settings]
Port=5235
(just the above information)
Server: Enter the License Server's IP address.
Port: This is the port number at which the network server will recognize the Clients. You can specify a different port, if needed. Please refer to page 3 in the Key License Server manual.
This license.ini file must be placed in the MAXON folder.
