CINEMA 4D helps The Design Factor make a new surgical procedure easy to understand

The Haemoband is the first multi-band ligator for the treatment of hemorrhoids. The product's designers, The Design Factor from Belfast, Ireland, defined the unit's use and function in association with a fully detailed design package, resulting in the product's manufacture in 2006.

William Lee, principal of the design consultancy said, "Demonstrating surgeons the use of a new device to be used inside the human body is not easy (unless you use 3D software)."

The Design Factor used CINEMA 4D to both illustrate the appearance and function of their designs and to fully animate the procedure for web use, training and sales purposes.
"CINEMA 4D had the ability to create very "real" materials in terms of the clear plastic anoscope, and the illuminated LED creates a viable reality that non-designers, specifically medical staff, can relate to very easily."

With the unit fully designed in Solidworks (the company's CAD package of choice), The Design Factor used CINEMA 4D to generate high-quality rendered images and a series of training animations in just two days using the final designs.

Using a combination of full ray tracing for realistic images and the Sketch & Toon module for illustrations the resulting images and training animations are used by sales and training staff to promote this innovative medical product.
