"Long ago, so it is writtenAs we were still from dragons smitten
Truly, not all had been blessed
Their talents in virtual worlds to attest
But few magicians had in their hold
Abilities with this tool worlds to mold
Yet MAXON's programming guild
Long had plans something new to build
One long moonlit night it did take
A wondertool with talented minds to make
A tool itself as fast as light
Breaking every ray midst in flight
With strength of sword and water and fire
Its walls built with unending tire
1000 elves their wisdom give
So that the magic further lives
You need not study this tool to master
Simply practice, in time you will get faster
No false pride, no mental imbalance
A clear mind and a little talent
Soon you will see your new creation
Like magic, your first animation
Bubbling over with effects
Making bodies glow to specs
Bones will bend with utter joy
Cloth will flow in wind ahoy
Humans, dragons, figures of lore
These magician can change, less or more
Soon 3D spirits will do your bidding
And you will be master, we're not kidding!"
Stefan Seitz, who works professionally in the architectural / CAD field, has been working on a fairytale animation short in his free time for quite some time now. The idea is based on a poem he wrote himself about a dark, haggard shadow that wears a tophat and lives in a crooked tower in the middle of Weedland. Every night the little shadow transforms itself into a bat that likes to bite and makes its nightly forays through the night sky. The only problem is that it's chased every night by a witch who needs it as the final ingredient in her recipe."I soon realized this story was perfect for telling in 3D and thus the entire scenery was created step-by-step and is still being expanded. No doubt it will be some time before this "hobby project" is completed ... without CINEMA 4D a project this size would not even be possible to master next to working full-time.
CINEMA 4D is not only powerful but its ease of use lets those without professional film experience create something fantasic.", says Stafan about his project. In addition to CINEMA 4D, Stefan also uses Adobe's After Effects which allows smooth post-production thanks to the excellent link between CINEMA 4D and this well-known compositing tool. In time, a gruesome but not too gloomy environment was created that appeals to both children and adults alike.
