English Premiership football

Sky Sports is celebrating its exclusive live coverage of English Premiership football with stunning new title sequences created using MAXON's state-of-the-art modelling, rendering and animation software CINEMA 4D.

The sequences, which can be seen on Sky Sports throughout the 2004/5 season, feature famous footballers such as England's Steven Gerrard and France captain and World Cup winner and captain Patrick Vieira.

The design team wanted to recreate the free flowing, elegant movement or real ticker tape and decided that to pull of this stunt they would have to send the camera right into the action.

The only way for the design team to achieve the extreme camera moves required for this was to build a 3D stadium environment to contain all the action. The stadium needed to feel huge. For the construction, a capacity crowd of around 100,000 people was created in CINEMA 4D.

"Everything you see in the sequences is done in CINEMA 4D. The stadium, crowds, ticker tape, shafts of light, flags, goals, goal nets, skies...", said Justin Bates, designer and producer for Sky Sports on the project.
