BRAINCORPS develops futuristic calendar for thermoset plastics leader
When Germany-based agency Kröger Kommunikation wanted to present a classy calendar to one of its clients, BRAINCORPS came to the rescue.
The FutureBots2005 calendar had to be something special; BAKELITE AG, the company it was for, is a world leader in thermoset plastics.
BAKELITE was known to be interested in how its products could be used together with forward-looking technologies. So the idea for the calendar was to build a bridge between modern design and the future with the help of 12 robots.
Mark Gmehlin and Michael Thiele set about designing the bots using CINEMA 4D, BodyPaint 3D and the Sketch and Toon module. MAXON's software was used throughout the project, from early design sketches through to final renders.
From concept to calendar, the bots took three months to complete and make their way onto the 65 cm x 50 cm calendar.
Mark Gmehling said: "You can really let your imagination run wild with CINEMA 4D and BodyPaint 3D. They are so flexible and fast that you cannot help but be creative with them and try out new ideas, which helps a lot when you are designing robots for which there are few rules! Without this speed and flexibility, 12 great looking bots would have been too tall an order for this deadline."
