Shanghai Imagehost Digital Technology (IHDT) uses CINEMA 4D to create SIEMENS kitchen "transformers"

When SIEMENS China contacted IHDT and asked them for a 'cool' concept for its new Chinese online promotion of cooker exhaust hoods the decision was quickly made to present a concept that reflected the "transformer" genre made popular again by recent Hollywood movies.

The visuals of such a concept are loved by a very wide range of customers, including those who spend a lot of time in the kitchen.

The mechanical nature of exhaust hoods fit perfectly in this concept and three different originating forms were used that best reflected the character of each product: A submarine was used for the Lingjie model without welds; a super car was used as the basis for the Zhanyi model due to its similarity to gull-winged cars; a bridge was used as a basis for the Tjanyue model because of its wide span.

CINEMA 4D's easy-to-use animation system allowed the team at IHDT to set keyframes for each animated element without having to switch to the Timeline itself. Even though this was not as complicated as a Hollywood production, a large number of keyframes had to be set for position, rotation and scale. Thanks to CINEMA 4D's excellent workflow all three transformer animations were completed within a single day's work.
