For the introduction of its new BAS system, Mercedes-Benz needed a high-end spot that metaphorically depicted how the system works. Sehsucht studios was up to the challenge.
Mercedes-Benz' new Brake Assist System is an electronic system that interprets the braking behavior of the driver and initiates the full braking effect when it identifies an emergency situation, thereby reducing the braking distance substantially. The spot depicts this visually by displaying 3-dimensional text animations that describe the objects encountered while maintaining the legibility of the text.
"This project required good timing. We used a mix of 2D and 3D elements that were composited in After Effects. Since Thinking Particles and After Effects export were essential for the successful completion of this project, CINEMA 4D was used to create the camera movement, the rain and various other animated elements", states Sehsucht's Hannes Geiger.
A Sehsucht team of four was able to integrate all required elements in only four weeks to create a spot that earned them a Red Dot 2009 TV and Movie award.
