The trailer for the 2008 Hamburg Filmfest was created by the Hamburg-based CG specialists, Sehsucht – a production studio that often works for international clients.
This 90-second trailer had to be completed entirely in HD. Since a number of scenes contained up to 10 million polygons and 15 Multi-Pass layers, seven artists went to work on 8-core BOXX workstations and made use of Sehsucht’s render farm with its fifteen clients.First, the real film footage had to be tracked, which Sehsucht did using Boujou. Other tools used were RealFlow for simulating liquids, and Sehsucht’s own Mesh Loader plugin. The 3D elements were subsequently rendered using Final Render and compositing was done in After Effects and Shake – to which CINEMA 4D has direct, seamless connectivity. The team at Sehsucht was able to create an impressive and breathtaking trailer that visually combines many core cinematic attributes such as romance, cold-heartedness action and affection.Production: Sehsucht GmbH, Hamburg, Germany
